16/4/13 Almadende la Plata ➡ El Real de la Jara 16kms

16/4/13 Almadende la Plata ➡ El Real de la Jara  16kms

Oh what a beautiful walk it was today.
These are the days that remind you why you walk.
There was another killer hill that never seemed to end but it was worth it.
Whoever on the forum stated that the Via De La Plata was flat needs a bullet.
We have had significant hills every day. When you factor in that we are climbing to a height of 2470.5 feet then you know we are climbing and there will be hills.

We were meeting all the pilgrims at 8am for deysauno, cafe & tostada, before hitting the post office yet again.
Another 4kgs was sent forward to Salamanca. As it is so hot we have sent our thermal and rain gear ahead. Also we have sent the sleeping mats on so the pack is getting a smidgen lighter.
Can't believe I started in snow and now have a tan mark on my hand from the straps of my walking poles !

Good terrain all day, solid packed earth, firm footing.
We walked thru lots of gates today which had lots of farms so sheep, goats, pigs.
The views were lovely and it was nice having a short day.
Will walk tomorrow and then have a rest day.

Cristy and I walked into the town for something to eat and when we went into this bar a delightful man aged  81, we know this because he was proud to tell us, shouted us a cerveza and a snack. This was for the simple fact we are pilgrims, he was so cute.

Well enough from me, I'm off for a siesta!
